I am amazed at this author’s way of tackling issues, how she tells her readers that everything and anything can be overcome, just like her heroines do.
Yes, we know it’s fiction, and her men—Case here, are too good to be true, but us women can dream, right?
One thing that stands out, is the fact that through Evie, she KL Donn tells us that although real-life adversities give different reactions, we women can rise above it all as long as we believe we can.
Everyone was telling me to read Dom’s story after I finished Kennedy’s Redemption. Well. Am I glad I did, ‘coz I love, love, loved how Deidre and Dom’s story came about…how Dom was a bodyguard, a protector, and then a lover at the end.
I also loved the banter, knowing that the heroine had a backbone- she was Irish, after all. I loved how she stood up for herself, how she had Dominic and his son, Jax, wrapped around her little finger.
And yup, that little boy, with the way he talked, was so adorable!
All in all, I give KL Donn 10 stars for Owned by Dominic, and I thank her for introducing me to Dom! Now on to Case…
KL Donn introduces us to the story of Detective Kol Daniels, brother of Arsen (Until Arsen) and Ember. An event organized by his sister leads him to a girl his heart and soul recognizes as his, only to lose her when she runs away.
Thea Andrews is flawed. Scarred and terrorized by events from her past, Thea tried to flee when she saw that she caught Kol’s attention.
Realizing that he needed to be careful with Thea, Kol makes it his mission to obtain her trust and eventually her love. Discovering how much agony she tries to hide away from the world, Kol pushes until Thea lets her guard down and starts to open up.
KL Donn, the awesome author that she is, does it again. She gives us another story of hope and redemption. She gives us, through Thea, strength, and resilience–powerful ammunition against people and circumstances that seek to tear us down. She tells us, through Kol, that we only need to trust–to reach within, and without, to that place where faith resides–our hearts.
Written under the Happily Ever After Alpha world of Aurora Rose Reynolds, KL Donn brings to us the story of Detective Arsen Daniels and kindergarten teacher Marina Parks.
Arsen, the eldest of three siblings, longs to have a family of his own. He meets Marina, a woman who believes she is broken after a devastating accident leads her doctors to tell her that she will never be able to bear children.
Fate, fickle-minded lady that she is, brings these two together, and the result is truly worthy of a KL Donn-Aurora Rose Reynolds collaboration!
Dear reader, if you haven’t read any of KL Donn’s stories, here is your chance to get acquainted with this lovely lady’s work. Short reads, long stories, stand-alone or series, if you are the type who is brave enough to read a wide variety of topics, I would encourage you to take a chance with her.
Or, if you are the type who seeks relief in a story, then please go ahead and read Arsen and Marina’s story, for theirs is one of hope, love, and trusting that everything will be alright in the end.
Short, sweet, OTT, and sigh-worthy. It was fun to read about Onyx and Gracie, how Onyx was the calming presence for Grace, a sheltered girl who was afraid to leave her apartment after escaping the clutches of her step-mom.
While whimsical, the story is not so much a fairytale retelling of Snow White and the evil step-mom (witch? I’m mixing them up, sorry), it’s like a mash-up of Little Red Riding Hood meeting the big bad wolf (who turns out to be cuddly).
I’m glad to read something different from KL Donn. This shows her diversity as an author, one that I will never get tired of following.
So what am I rambling about? Go ahead, get that one-click finger going! You won’t regret it!
It is true what others say … a Law a day truly keeps the bullies away!
KL Donn never fails to give us drool-worthy alpha heroes who make it their priority to save a damsel in distress, and this one, Law, makes me want to ask, where the heck was he when I needed him?
‘Coz yeah, Law can bully me ANY. TIME.
Otherwise, why the heck is this one so damn short? It’s like I took a deep breath and have yet to exhale! Oh yeah, it’s a novella. Sigh.
Anyway. Readers, if you want a short, sweet read with a whole lot of alpha hotness, go snatch this one up, BUT. LAW. IS. MINE.
K.L. Donn sure knows how to give readers a treat this Hallow’s Eve! What could be better than finally giving High School principal Jack Daily his own happily ever after? Giving him his very own Eden!
If this is your first time reading a K.L. Donn story, I would suggest that you lock your door, settle in, relax, and prepare to feel hot all over, ‘coz Mr. Daily is H.O.T.!
Bullied her entire life because of an accident she had no control over, Cecilia began college hoping for a fresh start.
To her dismay, she was faced with the same bullies, only with crueler taunts and words that can slice deeper than the sharpest of knives.
Landon hadn’t expected to fall for Cecilia when he walked back into his old college, yet there she was, soft-spoken, unassuming, and the strongest woman he’d ever met. He knew she was going to be his, so he let it be known that she wasn’t to be bullied.
I always admire KL Donn for delving into topics that are otherwise shunned in today’s world.
Here, she tackles bullying, a topic that, truth be told, has gotten out of hand with the onset of social media and the political storms happening all over the world.
Sad to say that, even today, bullying is still a subject that is not taken seriously. And when a victim succumbs to it, there are still those who will blame the victim—He or she was perceived as weak, or there is something physically or mentally wrong with them—every reason to believe that the victim did not have the backbone to fight for themselves will rear its ugly head.
It becomes a never-ending cycle of feeling unwanted and unloved, of depression, or worse, learning and believing that, to save one’s self, one must become the bully.
I am glad that KL Donn portrayed Cecilia’s character as being strong enough to rise above it all. Yes, she had Landon to fight for her, even though in the real world, heroes such as him are few and far between, but KL Donn’s message is clear: if you are bullied, fight for your right to live as you should. Stand your ground, you have the right to live as everyone else does, and only you can dictate how and what you want your life to be. Because YOU matter.
Dear reader, if there ever was a time you felt bullied, or if you are being bullied now…find strength that, with or without someone like Landon by your side, you can and should fight for what is right. It does not matter if, like Cecilia, you feel unsure and doubt yourself at first. You only have to believe that you can, and reach out. I did. I clawed my way out, and I am stronger for it.
After
spending time in prison for assaulting her brother’s fiancée, Ashley is full of
remorse and pain. She wants to redeem herself, but she finds herself in a
downward spiral and isn’t sure how to move on from her past mistakes.
Declan Hart was hired to find out what Ashley was hiding. He finds a girl who was contradictory to what he has learned about her, and instead, he found her broken and filled with self-hatred. He then made it his mission to break her from her self-imposed prison.
I made her world a living hell, and when mine turned to shit, she became the support I never knew I would need.
–KL Donn, Happily Ever After
Coming into the first few pages of
Ashley’s story, I had a suspicion that the author was not just writing
fiction–she was reaching out, and giving us a glimpse into her life.
And then came this line…
“Zach has a right to be worried. There is something wrong with me. So wrong, I don’t think I’ll ever be right again…”
Reading “Happily Ever
After” was a bit hard for me.
I was once bullied.
I hated myself for being weak, for
running away from the problem, which, unfortunately, was a pastor who thought
he could use his “God-given” right to raise a hand at me. Finding
that I had no support system then, I left.
I got into the wrong crowd, made some bad decisions that to this day I
still regret. However, I survived it, I am now in a better place, in a better
frame of mind to help others who, like me, were, or are, being bullied.
KL Donn’s Happily Ever After came at a time when the Internet was abuzz with a game tricking kids into harming themselves. Social media has evolved into a monster, allowing, in the guise of freedom of expression, the bullies to tear into everyone’s psyche, making us doubt our preconceived notions of what we should be.
It is up to us then, the adults,
those who know better, those who long for a peaceful co-existence with one
another, to teach the younger generation, to guide them, to discern right from
wrong … that to live means not to fight one another, but to work together for
a brighter future.
KL Donn said that you, the reader, would either love or hate Ashley and Declan’s story. I beg you to read it well, read between the lines, and find the gems that she had imparted in this well-written book. Read it to the end and know that bullies, and of course victims, can still have a happily ever after.
“One day at a time—this is enough. Do not look back and grieve over the past, for it is gone; and do not be troubled about the future, for it has not yet come. Live in the present, and make it so beautiful that it will be worth remembering.
– Ida Scott Taylor
Enduring words from a novelist born well before our time, and an apt description for KL Donn’s Unchained, the story of Lochlan, youngest Hogan brother, and Sage Marlowe, daughter of a Bible-thumping fanatic who used his power to terrorize his people.
KL Donn caps off her Hogan Brothers series by tackling an issue not always acceptable to most readers—the use of religion to bend others to their own twisted agenda or beliefs.
I agree with the author when she said that the story was not an easy one to write.
She is clothed with strength and dignity, and she laughs without fear of the future.
–KL Donn
I felt heavy-hearted going into the first few chapters, reading how Sage suffered through degradation at the hands of her own father who, in the guise of purifying her supposed “unclean” spirit, subjected her to physical and emotional abuse.
Thank God, then, for Lochlan, whose faith and love for Sage enabled her to find the courage to break free and learn to find herself again.
If you are someone who does not like the idea of reading a romance story revolving around religious beliefs, I still would encourage you to read Unchained.
Or, if you are of a particular faith who grew up with a strict belief system on the bible, read it, still. Read it for the hope, love and faith that Lochlan and Sage want to share with you.
Read it, for the simple reason, that whatever happens, whatever experiences we may go through, faith, hope, and love, will always pull us through.
